Lash Extensions
So today's post I know isn’t something new to the cosmetic world, but if your like me something that comes close to my eyes makes me nervous (Even though I have contact lenses it still irks me hah ironic right?). Still my friends have had them done multiple times and they love the outcome. However I know some people who have said that the glue burns their eyes at the start, or they don't last that long, one even had some build up around their lashes… Ew. Now obviously I waited/avoided looking into them because there are some technicians that take short cuts and give the other professional ones a bad wrap and that's what stays with you. So when I decided to start blogging I figured I should try new things... So lash extensions it was! I looked through Instagram and online tons, obviously looking through pictures I wanted them done ASAP. Just like finding the right hairdresser I needed to find the right lash technician for myself. I asked a family friend who's had them before for a referral and she helped book an appointment for me.
LASH PREP...
Now the night before its preferred that you remove all makeup and makeup remover residue. Which hey I get that... I mean would you go for a facial and have full glam makeup on and expect the aesthetician to take it off for you? No its kind of common sense plus its better for the glue bonding to your lashes so beneficial in the long run. So the day of my appointment I’m brow less… that should set the mood hah I went au natural that day and that's not an easy thing for me but for the lashes your girl did it. Now I didn't want to go first and that's probably better for me to watch and see how the other person felt getting them done. First off the steady hands on this woman was crazy, how effortless she did the lashes and how precise you have to be, a huge appreciation for the women out there that do these lashes for us
DURING THE APPOINTMENT...
So finally my turn came up, she put the eye pads on for my lower lashes (which did feel weird but no irritation) and she went to work so I just shut my eyes. Now you know the feeling of someone playing with your hair? Yeah, its great right? That is honestly how I felt, it wasn't invasive as I thought it could be. Nothing made me nervous once I closed my eyes, I mean they have sharp tools which would make you a tad nervous but they talk to you and let you know what their doing to calm a newbie down. To be honest I ended up falling asleep the only thing that woke me up was my legs came uncrossed so they gave me a blanket and I legit fell back asleep. ITS THAT NICE OF A FEELING!!
Anyways the end result of my lashes was amazing, they looked just how I wanted them to glam but kind of natural if that makes sense. I've been taking lots of selfies since, can't complain though not having to wear falsies actually means less time getting ready in the morning which I love, plus it looks more natural instead of having a black band by my eyelid. I honestly can’t see why I psyched myself out that much before. I love false lashes but these are so much easier no more glue, having to count how many times I can re-use a pair, no worries if they start to fall off and I don't have any glue!
A WEEK LATER...
Since its almost been a week I can say that only a couple of lashes have fallen out, 2 flipped the other way which was easy to fix by brushing them out. Also I am stomach sleeper so my face is in my pillow quite a bit throughout the night if you're worried about them falling out if you sleep the same way. When I do wash my face in the shower they do kinda clump together but easy to fix just by using the brush they give you, which goes the same as we have a pool and they don't effect them when swimming. So I'm really happy with these results so far especially for my first set of lashes
For those who are like myself and do get nervous about lash extensions my experience with this lash girl was perfect for a newbie. Her name is Katrina Faifai her Facebook Page is @lashlairextensions "The Lash Lair". If you need to feel more comfortable she has 6 years of experience which should ease your mind if you have doubts, tons of pictures of her work online and gives very friendly and professional service!
Hope you enjoyed today's post! Unfortunately couldn't get it ready in time for last week but this way you get an honest update about how my set has been holding up. Cheers till next week xx
